Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Moderate water staining to pastedowns and free endpapers. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened. Minor sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Frontispiece, 340pp, illustrations in the text, brown cloth boards with titles and ecclesiastical design in blind, dustwrapper. The book is in near fine condition, with a little foxing and and a small patch of fading to the top of the spine. The dustwrapper has a little wear & rubbing to the edges, otherwise it is in very good order. Overall a handsome copy of an uncommon work by Harper, who was better known for his 'Road' books published around the turn of the century. A history of monasteries and abbeys is followed by detailed descriptions of some 40 British abbeys. Artikel-Nr. 4512
