Sacred Editors: How Power, Politics, and Interpretation Shaped the Christian Scriptures - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

The Bible didn't fall from heaven—it was assembled by human hands.

For two thousand years, Christians have held the Bible as the unchanging Word of God. But behind every verse lies a hidden history of choices: which books to include, how to translate ancient languages, whose voices to preserve—and whose to silence forever.

Sacred Editors reveals the remarkable human story behind Christianity's most sacred book. From early Christian communities treasuring gospels that would later be banned to scribes systematically erasing women apostles from Christian memory, this is the story of how the Bible came to be.

Drawing on the work of leading biblical scholars, historians, and archaeologists, Kevin Meyer weaves together discoveries and insights that reveal the profound consequences of these editorial choices. This isn't a book that diminishes the Bible's authority—it celebrates the extraordinary collaboration between divine inspiration and human stewardship that created the world's most influential book.

Thoughtfully synthesized and accessibly written, Sacred Editors offers both believers and curious readers a fresh perspective on how ancient wisdom was preserved across centuries of changing circumstances.
