If Heaven and Hell are full, where will the dead go?

Samantha Nightshade almost had it all. Married to her high school sweetheart, a loving family, and a bright future. That is, until everything fell apart in a heartbeat. Now a victim of circumstance and desperate for answers, Sam finds herself in an impossible reality that grows stranger and more dangerous by the day. Faced with more questions than answers, Sam awakens in a bustling metropolis of the dead. Trapped in Purgatory, Sam teams up with a man named Gibson, a 1930's P.I. born, raised, and killed in Chicago, who teaches her about the horrors around her.

Meanwhile, a serial killer out of legend has discovered how to cross back and forth from Purgatory to the living world and is adding victims to his collection. Sam needs to find him not only to learn how to make her way back to her life, but to prevent him from destroying two worlds.
