Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Cindy Lee Williams dedicated her life to supporting children with special needs, infusing her natural talent for early childhood development into her work. Although she paused her formal education to care for her family, her passion for helping children led her to various classrooms in Ohio and Wisconsin. Cindy's profound dedication to students facing physical, emotional, and learning challenges shone through her tailored teaching aids and unwavering commitment.Cindy passed away in August 2016 in Fitchburg, WI at the age of 64, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion, as well as the story of Tommy T. Willy-a character she created to help young children practice rhyming, a foundational early literacy skill.Tommy T. Willy Goes to the Zoo is lovingly published by her son, Brett, and his wife, Alexandra, in Cindy's honor, with hopes of taking Tommy T. Willy on many more adventures -grounded in the heart and purpose of her original story.

Tommy T. Willy Goes to the Zoo was illustrated by Alissa Creno, a digital designer from Central New York who previously lived in Madison and worked with Brett at American Girl in 2013. During that time, Alissa had the opportunity to meet Cindy. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a major in 3D Digital Graphics, Alissa has illustrated eight other children's books and has a deep passion for children's media.
