Attractive, intelligent, and already familiar with James's research on queer identity, Grant is impossible to ignore. He also shares that he grew up in foster care, has been on his own for years, and is now trying to find his place at the big university.

James is fascinated by Grant, but he has the wits to keep their interactions academically focused, for the most part. Memories of his failed attempts to help Isaiah still haunt him, even as they draw him closer to Grant.

Meanwhile, Courtney is asking for a reconciliation, forcing James to decide whether he can trust him again. It's overwhelming. And more and more, Grant's behavior feels like a seduction.

But a seduction into what? A forbidden relationship? Another failure? Or something much more chilling?
