Fortune's Shadow, Mercy's Light: From the Secret Scrolls of the Imperaré (Fortune & Mercy, Band 1) - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

A heist gone wrong. A beloved mentor betrayed and crucified. A young man outcast by his fellow thieves. Could the luck of the self-proclaimed favorite of Neesis Fortuna, the goddess of fortune, have finally run out?

Fleeing the ashes of his old life, Ulric Darktalon arrives in the city of Trumric set on claiming his mentor’s legacy as the greatest thief in the republic. Perhaps an impossible task in a city of fabulous wealth and wretched poverty. Where cruel nobles rule as priests and dragon magi scheme. Where the streets and back alleys are jealously ruled by the Imperaré, the masters of all crime in the Republic’s capital.

Then everything changes for Ulric upon meeting Persius Julia, a mysterious young healer and actress in desperate need of a bodyguard. Despite an undeniable attraction, the two quickly find themselves at odds with each other—and the gangs of the Imperaré.

But Luciano Porteles, a feared assassin from Ulric’s past, arrives in the capital carrying his mentor’s sword. Ulric knows he’s no match for the veteran killer, but Neesis Fortuna favors madness and bold action. With his luck running out, Ulric rolls the dice on revenge. A decision that will forever change his and Julia’s fate and that of the princes of the Imperaré.
