The United States of America has officially become Just America, at least six factions that couldn’t come to an agreement to unify the shattered country. Most of the factions aren’t interested in fighting with their neighbors, but the Republic of Afrika has been raiding and taking slaves from the bordering factions.

Shane Delaney never met a challenge he won’t tackle, and the captives include Jazz’s mother and other Emmaus residents. Confident in his skills at sneaking and shooting people, Shane’s been asked to join an embassy to negotiate a peace treaty and a prisoner swap.

With a lot riding on this, Shane marvels anyone thinks he’s qualified to be a diplomat, but there’s a job to do and somebody has to do it.
