The book, "Memoirs of a Colonel Who did not Become a General", is the story of Col Bhaskar Sarkar, VSM. Through it he has tried to share his professional adventures, experience and philosophies. The book also contains a tribute to his wife and first Commanding Officer. He has published his wife's biography titled "An Amazing Journey" and it is available at Amazon and Flipkart. Hence this book does not contain much on the non-military and social side of his life. This book covers only the professional side of his story.The book does not seek to provide excuses for his failure to become a general but explains them. It does not lament about the injustices in the system. Description of his family background, childhood, youth and life in the Army are just pegs to hang a collage of a large number of small anecdotes which make up his army career. This book chronicles small incidents that reflect the Army Life from 1964 to 1991 that we experienced. This book is about what he considers were the best days of the Indian Army when it rose from the debacle of 1962 to the glorious victory in 1971 and Kargil. Col Sarkar has completed 35 years after retiring from the Army. After retirement, he worked till 2007. This period of his life is also covered in this book. Col Sarkar's motto is, "Let us make things better". In light of that, he has tried to share his knowledge, experience and philosophies with his readers.
