THE BOY WHO WANTED TO BE A MONK PT-2: Conversations With Destiny - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

What happens when a young doctor joins the Indian Army and discovers that medicine is only the beginning of his education? Conversations with Destiny follows the formative years of a restless young surgeon through the Indian Army, the Navy, the Armed Forces Medical College and the demanding world of surgical training. Along the way come extraordinary teachers, unforgettable colleagues, demanding patients, military friendships, moments of danger, unexpected humour and the gentle surprises of ordinary life. From army camps to operating theatres, from naval life to the corridors of AFMC, the young doctor gradually learns lessons that no textbook could teach-about leadership, courage, responsibility, friendship and the curious ways in which people shape one another. At the centre of the story is a life that rarely follows the plan. Just when one destination seems certain, another road appears. Written with warmth, affection and gentle humour, this is not a military history or a surgical memoir. It is the story of a young man being quietly shaped by the institutions, teachers and people he encounters-and discovering, often only years later, that what seemed like a series of unrelated adventures was actually an education in life.
