In 2019, a respected professional with advanced degrees is sent to prison for crimes he never committed. Seven years later he walks free into a world transformed beyond recognition. While he was locked away, artificial intelligence quietly hollowed out the profession he had spent his life mastering; the expertise that once made him indispensable can now be summoned in seconds by anyone with a keyboard. Innocent but branded by a criminal record, he must rebuild a livelihood from nothing while the very technology that destroyed his old life dangles the only ladder out of the new one. To survive, he must master the machine that unmade him, or be crushed beneath it. Sentenced to the Future follows one wrongly convicted man's collision with the AI age: the family that never doubted him and the strain his return places on them, the friends who lift him up and the ones who vanish, and the stubborn, day-by-day labor of reinvention. A novel of exile and re-entry, of dignity under suspicion, and of whether a person can out-learn his own obsolescence, it asks the question now waiting for us all: when the future arrives without you, is there still a place for you in it?
