As a light-skinned, small, Black girl in 1960s Oklahoma living in a predominately Black community, Kathy Rushing faced incredible torment from her classmates. Even in the safety of her own home came relentless teasing, bullying, and losing a sense of self amongst her siblings.

About the Author

Kathy Rushing is a semi-retired nurse and passionate volunteer for her church and community at large. She enjoys traveling, visiting family, arts and crafts, and sewing.
