This is a tale of an ordinary, recently retired, married couple, Dave and Deb, who travel to Nepal and trek independently around the Annapurna Circuit. To say Dave, the author, is a reluctant adventurer, is an understatement. The story begins when they receive an unexpected retirement gift.

"I opened the envelope and simultaneously the door to my comfort zone creaked wide open. There in my sweaty, shaking hands were tickets to Kathmandu, Nepal.

This was the beginning of the author's ordeal. An ordeal that would push him out of his comfort zone and thrust him, and his much braver wife, around the Annapurna Circuit and into thin air, up and over the High Pass of Thorong La deep in the Nepalese Himalayas. This would ultimately change his life for the better.
