Luis, also known as the Peñon, is a young man who is fixated on the lives of successful North American celebrities and people. Despite his best friend's advice to remain in his home country and grow there, Luis convinces his parents to send him to study in the first world, with the intention of returning home to use his new skills to make a better life for himself. However, he mistakenly ends up in Europe, where he embarks on an adventure that includes changing his name to "Jeremy Smith," and ultimately settling there for the rest of his life.

Oliver Frances writes romance and mystery, because of his professional background as economist some of his works focus on social and economic issues. He has traveled to many countries and, from those journeys, has learnt about economic and political systems. Frances' short stories have been praised by fervent readers around the world, and some were published in Istanbul Literary Review.
