Inhaltsangabe

Volume 2 of Formula 1 Curiosities covers a topic seldom discussed in F1 books: the Grand Prix careers of drivers and manufacturers who did not score even a single point. While some of these participants did not have a stellar history in motorsport, quite the opposite can be said of dozens of drivers, who won important championships, such as Formula 2, Tasman Cup, Can Am, Indycars, Formula 5000, European Touring Card Championship as well as races outside of the World Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Indy 500, 24 Hours of Spa and 24 Hours of Daytona. Given that few drivers have a chance of driving in F1 these days, for a number of reasons, Formula 1 Curiosities Volume 2 contains mostly profiles of drivers from the 50s to the 70s. For one, back in the old days entry lists were not repeated from race to race, there were many privateers, and local drivers generally were given a chance to participate, so that many dozens of drivers participated in a given season. The text is accompanied by photographs of some of the most obscure of these drivers, many of whom did a single race in Formula 1, as well as manufacturers which raced for a short while. It is a welcome addition to any racing enthusiast who would like to know more about the history of Formula 1 and understand how the sport developed into its current form. Do not forget to buy Volume 1.
