This tale of Reggie Scales, a four-year-old monster, begins where the first tale, There's a Kid under My Bed!, ended. Reggie wakes up worrying about what is shining in his closet. His mom, Alva, assures him that a kid is not hiding in the closet. In this story, Reggie tells his family at breakfast about his new school friend, Elvin, who uses a wheelchair. Reggie’s dad, Bud, asks for his help in measuring doorways of their tunnel home so that Elvin will be able to visit and play with Reggie. Elvin and his mom come to visit for a fun time.
