“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t you’ll find an excuse”

In the year 2000, Frank and Carol walked the 883 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats. The walk is a journey through the United Kingdom and through the life of a working class lad from Birmingham. Heartfelt and inspiring, the adventure they take together on these pages is a must read for all of those who are thinking of doing this famous walk, or have a love of travel.

In Frank's words:

Even now, years after we finished, we often talk fondly of our walk from Lands End to John O’Groats and plan more trips to stretches we enjoyed. Various ailments mean that I can’t walk for more than a mile or two but Carol is as young minded as ever and it’s a rare day that she doesn’t fit in an hour or so walking. She has even mentioned doing the reverse trip as a solo walker with me as a support driver, something I’d gladly do. But that would mean not seeing our two beautiful grandchildren, Scarlett and Teddy for longer than she could stand. Perhaps when you are 80, Carol? And it’s with Scarlett and Teddy that I’ll close. I said on page one of this book that we did the walk for our own satisfaction, which we did. But if it in some small way it inspires them or any future generations to find their own way then Carol and I could not leave a better legacy.
