At some point or another in our lives we all have to deal with the loss of a loved one. As adults we hopefully have the necessary tools to deal with that grief and heartbreak. Sadly, for our children the sudden loss of a loved one can be at the very least, quite confusing. A beloved aunt of mine died prematurely in the 1990's. My children were 5 and 7 years old at the time and they took it particularly badly. It inspired me to write this book, and having been lost in a drawer for many years I am now publishing it here.
What's it like in HEAVEN? Two kids attempt to console their granny, and embark on a journey to and from school asking the everyday people they meet what heir idea of HEAVEN is – the postman, a painter and decorator, a cop and even a lion in the zoo! 24 pages of thought provoking, detailed and colorful images, each one hand drawn with lots of visual clues and puns to discover with each read.
I don't profess to have any answers. But my take on what Heaven is and what it means to each of us personally, gave my young family a little comfort and a smile at a time of great sadness.
I wonder what auntie Janey is up to now?
