Inhaltsangabe

A Practical Guide to Speech and Language Therapy Methods provides a focused overview of therapeutic strategies in speech-language pathology, centering on planning and implementing therapy across all communication disorders and age groups. The book guides novice clinicians in applying their knowledge to real-world clinical situations with emphasis on general approaches to therapy rather than targeting specific disorders. It introduces alternative approaches for assessing treatment progress and supporting clinical decision-making.

Early chapters discuss the hierarchy of treatment, treatment approaches, and specific strategies used in both clinician-directed and naturalistic therapies. Subsequent chapters address selecting treatment modalities, the application and uses of the Clinician's Hierarchy for Advancing Treatment (CHAT) rubric, methods for monitoring therapy outcomes, and guidelines for setting and writing treatment goals. Final chapters explore collaborative approaches with colleagues and caregivers, as well as working effectively with supervisors.

Innovative and accessible, A Practical Guide to Speech and Language Therapy Methods is designed to support undergraduate and graduate programs in communication disorders, individuals training as speech-language pathology assistants, and early-career professionals. It's an exemplary resource for courses in clinical methods, therapy planning, and practicum experiences.
