What began as a simple writing assignment in her first grade class, blossomed into an informative and heartfelt tribute to her little brother...

A book about autism spectrum disorder or ASD, written by a big sister at the age of six, this book describes many traits of young individuals on the spectrum. It comes from a unique perspective, that of sibling, and of a child herself. In simple and easy to understand words, this text explains some behaviors that those with ASD may exhibit, while also conveying a sense of understanding and acceptance. Simply put, the author accepts her brother at face value, exactly as he is.

Like many conditions, autism is a diagnosis that affects the entire family unit. Explaining it to children can be difficult. It is our hope that seeing it plainly stated though the eyes of a sibling will create empathy and a deeper understanding. At the end, some important definitions and descriptions are made for educational purposes. For example, ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapy is described by the author as playing games; however the therapy is used to teach things such as taking turns, and is done so in young individuals utilizing play.
