This is my most current fully revised and expanded cruise book on the majesty of the Norwegian Fjords from the perspective of taking a summer cruise through this incredible landscape. I have greatly expanded my coverage from the earlier editions in hopes that as more people are once again able to cruise that they will choose Norway as a destination. Unlike cruising Alaska or the Cone of South America, the fjords of Norway are more extensive, offer a greater variety of dramatic landscapes as well as a rich history that dates back to the early Vikings over 1,000 years ago. Norway also offers the visitor all the comforts of being a highly modern, spotlessly clean and very friendly destination.

The information is based upon my dozens of trips through the Norwegian Fjords from Oslo all the way north to the Arctic Ocean and also beyond, having cruised into the Russian Arctic.

All of the ports of call open to cruise ships are treated in this book, giving you the vital information you will require in order to make your visit to each of the ports on your itinerary. Most of the ports of call on a Norwegian fjords cruise are small and the array of services is limited. For longer and more expansive cruises the ports of Berge, Trondheim and Tromso offer a significant array of services, as these are among the larger cities of the country. Visiting Norway is more about the landscape and its majestic beauty than shopping or dining in major urban centers.
