This is the fourth selection of 'Tales from the Rabbi's Desk' presented to the non-reading public. It would be good to say this is due to public demand but in fact it is due more to an inner demand; When one has to write, one has to write - and there is no way around this, if one is to find any inner peace. Maybe God felt the same way – there is after all no biblical verse that explains WHY God felt that God had to start the ball rolling through space. Perhaps it was just an idea in the Divine Mind that had to find a way out, to be turned into something seven-dimensional?
As a Rabbi working in congregations in Northern England and in Europe from the 1980's to the 2020's one met all sorts of fascinating problems, one was approached by survivors and children of survivors and then even their grandchildren. But I have decided that, while nobody would be interested in an accurate Autobiography of a congregational rabbi, one can make many of the same points in meditative, semi-autobiographical but fictional short stories.
