The world financial and economic crises, that started in 2008 and it is still ongoing, leads the economic scenario in which Italian SMEs operate. SMEs play a significant role in the Italian economy, being a generator of employment and income and, as a consequence, of growth. At the present time, they have been hit by the global crises in many ways; for instance, in addition to the reduction of sales, companies have a very limited access to credit, payment delays on receivables has increased and suppliers ask for instant payments.
