This little text is a Theosophical work precribing an interesting explanation for evil; partly that is is merely resistance from progress, and partly that it is spiritually necessary, because only against the backdrop of a struggle against evil can any progress be made towards enlightenment and one-ness. It uses examples such as the building of muscle (using resistance) to evince its points.

The concept is technically similar to the concept of dichotomous human understanding within linguistic anthropology.
