Part One.
George and the Time Machine is a bitter-sweet, funny and sad series of children's books.
Set during the Second World War, they are full of magic and nonsense, whilst telling the astonishing tale of ten-year-old George Hawkins. After his Father, Frank is killed at Dunkirk, George and his Mother Anne are left to fend for themselves in the terrifying, 1940 London Blitz.
However, their lives change forever after one night in an underground air raid shelter, where they were supposed to have been safe from German bombs. The next day, George and Anne head home to discover by letter, they have been left in Frank’s Grandfather’s will, a beautiful Chateau set in a strange little village called Deep Knobbly, in the midst of the English countryside.
So begins George’s great adventures!
There will be trips in a Time Machine to the Battle of the Little Big Horn, King Arthur’s Round table, and the Planet Mars, not to mention Deep Knobbly’s very own goblin army ready to defend their village, if the Germans ever dared to attack.
Oh, and how could we forget. A lovely horse called Strawberry!
There’s George’s best new friend, who he met on the train from London, a badly-scarred, young RAF pilot called Billy Cribbs, set to accompany the young boy along the way.
Until a fateful moment,
when all is laid true.
