It’s just a routine tour of duty in a 1970s small Black Country town, until rookie PC Stef Wild is directed to deal with a rampaging feral horse. The riotous battle with the horse not only earns the officer a reputation and a new nick name with his colleagues, but also an unexpected training course with the Police Mounted Department.

The reluctant Mountie learns to ride, and is thrust out of his comfort zone, into a regimented department, steeped in tradition, that is reluctant to change with the times. The pain and the falls in the riding school, the eccentric characters, and wilful biting, galloping horses all add humour to the drama as Stef crashes from one crisis to another.

Take a ride with the officer as he meets the challenges with the horses, wins his spurs, and wrestles with the dilemma of his future. At the same time, take a trip back to the 1970s, and share the struggles of Stef and his young wife Becks as they build a home and raise a new baby while penniless, carpet less, and battling a ruthless bank manager.

This is a dramatized non-fiction with a laugh on almost every page.
