Do you ever reminisce about the cars that you have owned ? Or the first car you remember that your parents had, perhaps in the days before seat belts and electronics. The need for roadside repairs, the smell of hot vinyl seats or crowding onto the backseat with another four school friends. Motoring and cars have certainly changed over the years and our lives can be chronicled by developments in those useful lumps of metal.

I often thought about the cars I had owned during my lifetime and decided to record them along with the incidents with and around them.

Some of the experiences were funny, some less so at the time but all part of a life lived through different times which saw the rise of the car and personal mobility for most people. The cars were a mixture of mainstream models of the time and some rarer examples which are now regarded as classics including the ‘Saint style’ Volvo coupe, eccentric Saab estates, a bonkers Renault Avantime coupe and the ever popular Volkswagen camper van. There is also the motoring cul de sac that was the Caraboat - a caravan, houseboat hybrid, once seen never forgotten!
