Zak is thoroughly despondent. It has been six months since he and his friends escaped from Pompeii, yet they are no nearer finding a way to stop the all-powerful Vulcanus and his growing army of followers.

After they are forced to flee to the ancient city of Rome itself, they begin a desperate search for allies, others with god-like abilities, who can help them in their struggle.

But whilst there, they learn of a prophecy that seems to foretell the demise of Vulcanus. Maybe if they can decipher the prophecy’s meaning in time, there may yet be a way to defeat their enemies.

The problem is, Vulcanus knows of the prophecy, too. And is prepared to stop at nothing to prevent it ever coming true.
