Historicists see Revelation continuing a broad view of history, while Preterists as mostly referring to events of the Apostolic Eon (1st century). Futurists are convince it describe future events, and Idealists or Symbolists consider it does not refer to actual people or events, but an allegory of the spiritual journey and the ongoing struggle between good and evil. The disparity compounded by culture, language and faith communities, is complicated further by the dimension of time as both chronological and opportune. The differing outcome are determine by what is literal and which is metaphorical in the texts, objects, numerical values and contexts.
