The Hairst - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

When murder makes life worth living.

Northern Aberdeenshire, summer 1973.

Farmer Fred Mutch is wasting away. Early retirement is not suiting him. Neither is it doing so for Maureen Hadden, formerly the local doctor.

Meanwhile the great North Sea oil boom is gathering pace, already changing the way of life in the local village of Craigston. Chuck Winter, a charming and popular Texan, is one of the first oilmen to settle in the village.

Then he’s found dead in a stream after a heavy night drinking.

Accidental death, say the police. But Fred and Maureen are not so sure.

Joining forces, they begin to unravel the hidden truth about Chuck Winter, a man who was neither who nor what he claimed to be. Seems he’d made enemies, and plenty of them. Enough, perhaps, for this to have been a cold-blooded murder.

But how can a pair of complete amateurs like Fred and Maureen prove that?

More importantly, who might the killer be - and why?

So much to try to discover. While also discovering each other.
