Kari Thomason has been writing poetry for over 40 years, and has often been heard referring to it as
her therapy. In sharing her work, she hopes to inspire the new and the next generations.
She had thought that her last book (Just a Glimpse) in 2019 would be her last. Having suffered a
stroke she faced a long period of rehabilitation, during which she could not use a pen or hit a
keyboard. She was resigned to setting aside her love of writing poetry.
However, life and God, had other ideas and the drive to write again gathered momentum through
the re-hab. “Lost and Found” is the collection of poems written through this period. It provides an
insight into Kari's journey of recovery and reflects her feelings, physical battles, emotional
experiences and spiritual struggles. By getting them into print Kari hope to inspire fellow stroke
sufferers to keep battling forward.
Accompanying the “Lost and Found” collection are a series of poems, the “Pathfinder” collection.
The Life after Stroke and Pathfinder periods of her life have a strong overlap and compliment each
other in this one publication.
During these periods of struggle her Christian faith was challenged. Through writing she was able to
gather spiritual strength and as she says, stays on the right path.
