You might know me from my YouTube channel, Mr Salles Teaches English, with over 100,000 subscribers, where 30% of viewers improved by 3+ grades from their mocks in 2022. Or you might have benefited from one of my 20+ guides to English language and literature.
If not, I'm Dominic Salles. I've been an English teacher for 30 years. Experience has taught me that most students can learn the skills for top grades. This is why I write and why I make videos.
This is not a guide on how to craft your sentences, and pepper your descriptions with literary techniques (I have other guides for that). Instead, this guide teaches you:
1. The seven parts of a story structure - you will see these in each of the 20 stories.
2. How to choose the most gripping opening.
3. How to craft the most fitting ending.
4. How to use a character's viewpoint to maximise the seven parts of a story structure.
You can copy any of the plots of these stories for your exam. That is not plagiarism.
I have kept each plot to 200-400 words, so that they are easy to remember. You will need 200-400 words of your own to properly craft them, to tell them in your own voice. That won't be plagiarism either. Everyone will tell their own version of the story in their own way.
You'll also learn to be a brilliant story writer - even if you only try this out for your GCSE.
