A witty, well-conceived, entertaining fantasy - Kirkus Reviews.>

Magnolia Bannister is a twelve-year-old girl who loves living on her parent’s magical steamboat that goes up and down the Mississippi River transporting magicians and magical creatures to all points on the compass.

But, one day, she finds out that her parents have gone and done something dumb, like enrolling her in a boarding school for young magicians. Frantic, and conspiring to run away, she soon changes her mind when she runs into a three-hundred-year-old magician who gives her a magic ring and tells her that ‘things won’t go so well if you don’t take it.'

Join Magnolia and her parrot, three classmates, a befuddled English ghost, and a kleptomaniac cat as they step into a madcap adventure when they go looking for five missing students and five dragon teeth that have been stolen from the Headmaster’s office.
