When I finished my book "Cyber Security Instinct" in 2017, I thought it was the best way to pass on my experience in cybersecurity after being intensely involved in IT for over 40 years.
I ended the conclusion on page 404 😉with a hopeful note: "We will be able to properly protect our information systems with common sense and experience."
But then an alert came through the ticketing system: "Wannacry" had just burst into our little cyber security world. A red message appeared on a user's screen and no further action was possible...
In Cyber Security Instinct: Reloaded! we will precisely examine their way of attacking, the "cyber kill chain", and we will propose to change our defensive mode to the "zero trust" paradigm: We will no longer trust, at first sight, connected devices, users and even applications. Everything must be monitored, all the time.
