Praise for St. Barbara

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In this panegyric on Saint Barbara, John the Presbyter of Damascus reflects on the nature of composing praises for martyrs, acknowledging the limitations of human skill in capturing their divine struggles. He invites the faithful to attentively witness the spiritual contest of martyrdom, likening it to a sacred theater where Christ judges the battle between good and evil forces. John highlights the victory of Barbara over both visible and invisible enemies, celebrated by heavenly hosts and Christ Himself. He encourages believers to embrace martyrdom spiritually, seeing it as the highest and most profitable spectacle, before proceeding to narrate her story in detail. Artikel-Nr. 9798349573385
