They come across Lupugeyun and his followers. Christened with the name Ponponio, he has escaped from the mission system started by Junipero Serra. He now raids the Spanish rancheros together with his progeny, MusselKnife, and his close two-spirit friend, Sorrel.

Lieutenant Barajas, the violated women’s supervisor, confronts Redwolf’s group. The California Dons charge General Peralta from the Presidio to deal with the escaping tribe of BearClaw and the raids of Ponponio.
