When Babylon was the center of the world there they were, in Egypt also and the rest of the kingdoms and empires that have succeeded them. From Ur of Chaldea, through Haran and Persepolis to New York, only one nation has been at the center, Israel. If God were to use a people to bring his Word (the Bible), also Redemption and announce future events, this people should outlive the others and so it has been: “and his name is engraved on the witness of history... the God of all Nations... the God of Israel”.
