The Complete Works of Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera: Translated into English (20th Century Rightwing Thinkers) - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

For the first time in English, The Complete Works of José Antonio Primo de Rivera offers an unparalleled glimpse into the mind of one of Spain’s most controversial political figures. As the founder of the Falange Española, Primo de Rivera's speeches, essays, and writings laid the ideological groundwork for Spanish fascism in the early 20th century. This comprehensive collection captures his fervent calls for national unity, authoritarian rule, and his staunch opposition to both communism and liberal democracy.

Born into an aristocratic family, Primo de Rivera's upbringing shaped his views on Spain’s future, and his works reflect a deeply romanticized vision of a strong, united Spain rooted in traditional Catholic values. His influence on the Falange movement and, by extension, on General Franco’s regime, is undeniable. Executed at just 33 years old during the Spanish Civil War, his death transformed him into a martyr for the cause he championed.

Through his powerful oratory and intellectual discourse, Primo de Rivera’s works address the political, social, and cultural turbulence of 1930s Spain, making this collection essential for those interested in the ideological battles that shaped modern Spain. This volume also explores his legacy, which continues to provoke debate and discussion in contemporary Spain.
