I am a mother and a survivor of losing a son to suicide this is my story.

A phone call changed our lives forever. We thought this news was the end of our worst nightmare, but sadly, it was merely the beginning; more was still to come. We faced so much—not only in having to turn off his life support but also in being unable to fulfill his wishes to donate his organs. On top of that, we had to navigate a court case to stop the use of posthumous sperm retrieval.

Suicide is something that nobody wants to talk about sadly it is a problem that is becoming more common in today, world. From the minute, you receive news that someone has committed this tragedy lives change and it affects everyone who knows the person involved.

Things that need to be done:

• Choosing a casket
• Arrange to get the body home
• Choosing cremation or burial

Grief is so overwhelming sometimes you need help to get through it:

• Grief counseling
• Support groups
• Church
• Family and friends

I hope by sharing my story that people see that there are places to go for help and remember you are never alone.
