This is a fun-loving story about a little Native American boy from the Wamponoag tribe. His name is "Little Running Bear". Little Running Bear was the fastest and strongest little brave bear among all the children of the tribe. He discovered the value of friendship and a few other important lessons. One of life's hardest lessons is finding the delicate balance between being proud and being full of pride. Around the Thanksgiving season, Little Running Bear tries to gain the admiration of his friends by capturing the biggest, fattest, and juiciest turkey for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast. He planned that he would do it all on his own. His plan fails, and he concludes that he needs forgiveness for his constant bragging and help catching his turkey. After the story, the Wampanoag tribe gathers around the table to give thanks. Little Running Bear offers thanks for the lessons he learned. At the end of the book, the readers are asked to write their own story, create their characters, and draw their pictures as they too can be authors and illustrators of their own storybooks.
