Inhaltsangabe

This book discusses Ralph Pyle’s life and the life and times of his father, Jack Pyle, a well-known radio personality working in Philadelphia during the 1950s and 1960s. When he was in his late 30s, Jack had an auto accident that left him in a hospital bed for four months. He struggled to reestablish his career before passing away several years later when Ralph was twelve. Ralph talks about his memories of his father and reflects on some of the life lessons that he learned. He also describes the periods of adjustment and lifestyle changes that he experienced after his mother passed away and his house caught on fire. Although Ralph wanted to pursue a career in music, at age twenty-eight he decided to take his first college course, and eventually he earned his doctorate in Sociology. He discusses what it was like working as a musician, school bus driver, security guard, and college teacher and reflects on how his experiences have taught him about life’s challenges and rewards.
