Clara is young, pretty, rich and mute. The accident in which her father died traumatized her. She still doesn't know what she'll have to face. The young man who has been living in the large family home for a few days no longer seems to be his brother. The girl represents a danger to the conspiracy that supplanted the rich Manuel with the ambitious Radames. The destiny of one becomes that of the other and for both there are moments of high tension.

Land of Stones is the adventure through a country shaken by civil war, it is the harsh and blinding landscape of the eastern coast of the Adriatic, it is the drive towards the most visceral and explosive passions. From the Central European atmosphere of the city of Trieste to the streets of the Venetian villages of the Dalmatian Islands, the story unfolds impetuously without sparing twists and turns. As in a karst landscape, we explore the most terrible actions the human soul is capable of.
It's a compelling story with compelling characters. The Balkan question is dealt with with a part set during the war of secession in the former Yugoslavia. But the story could also unfold today, in a Europe that we think is peaceful and instead teeming with unresolved issues, such as those between Ukraine and Russia. It is therefore a novel with a strong plot, some thriller elements and deliberate research on the legacy of the novel appendix to nineteenth-century memory.

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Radames wakes up and no longer has a face, no rules, no rules. It is only a body that becomes an instrument for power games.

Manuel wakes up in prison. He doesn't remember anything from the night before, only Uncle Nantas' sneer before he fell asleep.

Clara is Manuel's sister, she is confused by an old trauma and by the suspicion that her brother is no longer the same. She is a romantic girl with a strong character. She is mute but able to communicate easily and to tell her friends the secrets of a restless adolescence.

Nantas Albani has inherited everything since the death of her brother: home, family and construction company. Only his nephew can be an obstacle to his boundless ambition. He then decides to eliminate it by replacing him with an accomplice, whose characteristics he changed.

Radames and Manuel, two 20-year-olds born and raised at opposite poles of society, are two sides of the same coin. They both love each other differently, Clara. While the first one flees the attempt to be killed and disappears into the stormy sea, the other discovers the road to survival and over time plans his atrocious revenge.
