Metacognitive Study Strategies are necessary and effective for learning; they are the mental processes that occur in the brain, which help students learn and understand what others are saying. Metacognitive strategies help students manage their thinking and control their emotions as opposed to fighting. That is, students think and reflect on a puzzling situation or a difficult problem before reacting; only then can students make a reasonable decision, especially when taking exams. Since metacognitive strategies are difficult to implement in classrooms due to time and space constraints, parents must pick up this job for younger children because it take many years of practice for mastery. Teenagers tend to learn sensory cognitions faster; this is because of their life-experiences are greater than a three-year-old child’s is. Most of metacognitive strategies are in my book entitled The Elements of Study Strategies Revealed: What Every Man, Woman, and Child Should Know. This book is designed to help parents teach metacognitive learning strategies to their younger children. When reading the book, older students develop and enhance their learning style at their own pace in privacy. The Book teaches students how to perform listening, writing, and verbal exercises on content. Students must perform these sensory exercises when asked to do them; they help students visualize content, internalize it, and make associations with it to their life experiences. The chemical elements and symbols is the vehicle used for making mnemonic devices, and anagrams; this is because the chemical elements are unique unlike the name John. The book presupposes no knowledge of Chemistry on the reader’s part or the student’s part. However, the younger students must be capable of reading at the fifth grade level or have a parent who is willing to sit with h/her child, coaching, while reading the Book together. The Book teaches self-assessment on learning. The book is entitled, “The Elements of Study Strategies Revealed: What Every Man, Woman, and Child Should Know”. It is available on Amazon.
