For years, the Crouch End Festival has been celebrating creativity across a broad range of the creative arts, and grew the festival to be one of the UK’s biggest community arts festivals. But we were always aware that one area we didn’t cover well was literature, ironic given the vast number of writers of all kinds in the area. So, in November 2023 we put out an ad on social media inviting people to help us organise a Crouch End Literary Festival. True to the values of the Crouch End Festival, we wanted a festival that wasn’t traditional, one that was innovative and inspiration. Accessible to all - 90% of events were free. We were ambitious. But confident. The result - an enormous success. 22 events, 8 venues and nothing but praise from our community.
