As the girls investigate, they uncover a dark secret: the school was once terrorised by the Big Black Bird, an evil counterpart to the Big Red Bird, who was sealed away 100 years ago.

The Big Red Bird reveals that the Big Black Bird is about to return, and the only way to defeat him is by finding the indigo pearl, a magical artefact held by the legendary Black Dragon in the deepest part of the Yellow River. To reach the pearl, Lucia, Freya, and the Big Red Bird must face a series of Five Elemental Trials (Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth), which test their courage, wisdom, and, most importantly, their friendship.

Along the way, they learn about the tragic history of the Big Red Bird and his brother, the Big Black Bird, both were trained by Master Xiao at Wuyi Mountain, and how their rivalry led to the darkness that once consumed the school.

With the help of Queen Phoenix and the Black Dragon, they double the power of the indigo pearl and prepare for the final battle against the Big Black Bird. In a climactic showdown, the Big Red Bird sacrifices himself to save his brother, using a tear of blood to heal and redeem him. The Big Black Bird is defeated, and peace is restored to Danesfort Primary.

The story ends with Lucia and Freya reflecting on their journey, knowing they are the chosen ones destined to protect the balance between light and darkness. As they prepare for their next adventure, they carry with them the lessons of friendship, bravery, and the enduring power of love.
