“Coyote, huh?” I scratch my beard.
The suit tilts the body of his SLR downwards and shows me the screen.
“What does that look like to you?”
I squint down at the washed-out LCD display, but even in the low contrast, I can see a familiar shape. In fact, I know it intimately. Dinner-plate-sized. Long, triangular claw impressions. Deep-set in the soft soil.
“Found a few just like this leading up towards the property boundary. Started down by the tree line.”
“That’s not a coyote.”
“No. It’s not.”
