This book is the first in a series of seven books, spanning the New Testament of the Bible, written, exclusively, in rhyme. It highlights the Roman occupation, bringing context to the series. It describes an angel revealing God's plan to the Virgin Mary, that she would conceive a child, by the Holy Spirit: called Jesus, the son of God. It details Mary's visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, and explains how the glory of God was revealed to Elizabeth and Zechariah. It depicts Mary's marriage to Joseph, following an angel's appearance to Joseph, in a dream, and their gruelling journey to Bethlehem, to comply with the Roman census, when Mary was heavily pregnant. It introduces three Kings, who followed a star to Bethlehem, and recounts the humblest of births: the arrival of the baby Jesus, into the world, in an animals' stable. It relates the magical experience of the shepherds when Jesus' birth was heralded by a host of angels, and their visit to the baby Jesus. It portrays the Holy family's meeting with Simeon, and Anna, at the Temple. It recounts the evil desires of Herod, King of the Jews, and his obsession with murdering the baby, Jesus, forcing the Holy family to flee to Egypt, for a time. Finally, it summarises the Christmas story and wonders about the messages which it contains. These well-known stories are conveyed in a relatable way, with engaging illustrations, and are suitable for children and adults alike.
