This is the second book in a series of three texts on programming functions and stored procedures in MySQL and follows a curriculum at the intermediate level for mathematics.
This volume starts with business applications involving economic order quantity, Black-Scholes calculations, and facility location applications. Then it moves to Special Functions and Differential Equations. The Gamma Function, the Beta Function, Bessel Functions, and others are entertained here. Methods of solving differential equations, integral equations, and some chaos theory topics are also introduced. Afterwards, it tackles combinatorics and networks. Finally, it ends on apportionment algorithms and function approximation algorithms. Voting methods and power indices are demonstrated as well as interpolation methods, continued fractions, and finally optimization methods. These are only some of the concepts demonstrated in this volume.
This is the second volume continues the mathematical applications of algorithms used to solve problems or provide tools that are used to solve larger problems like series approximations to values, shortest path problems, and adjacency matrix calculations used in networks. It uses algorithms and concepts from the first volume and continues to extend these calculations in MySQL to show what MySQL can do.
