There is something powerful about beginning the day with God. Before the noise of the world begins to compete for our attention, before the pressures of life weigh heavily upon us, there is a sacred moment in the morning when our hearts can be centered in the presence of the Lord. Songs For My Morning was born out of those sacred moments.
For 150 mornings at 6:30 a.m., I had the joy and privilege of gathering with the sweet members of Mount Neboh Baptist Church, along with many friends and supporters from near and far, no matter where I was in the world and time zone difference, for a morning devotional call centered around the Hebrew Song Book-the Book of Psalms. What began as a devotional journey soon became a spiritual lifeline for so many of us. Morning after morning, we prayed together, reflected together, cried together, rejoiced together, and found strength together in the timeless truths of God's Word.
The Psalms have always held a unique place in the life of believers. They speak to every emotion and every season of life. In the Psalms, we find songs for the sorrowful, hymns for the hopeful, prayers for the perplexed, and praises for the victorious. Through David and the other psalmists, we discover that God welcomes our worship, our worries, our tears, and our thanksgiving. During these 150 days, the Psalms became our morning soundtrack-songs that lifted weary spirits, calmed troubled hearts, and reminded us daily of the faithfulness of God.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Dr. Johnnie M. Green, Jr. is a native of Dallas, Texas, whose life and ministry have been marked by a steadfast commitment to preaching the Gospel and serving the people of God. Educated in the Wilmer- Hutchins Independent School District and the Dallas Independent School District, Dr. Green continued his academic journey at Dallas Baptist University (BA 1985), Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1992), and Drew University (D.Min. 2001), where he further developed his theological foundation and pastoral leadership. With 47 years of preaching ministry, Dr. Green has faithfully shepherded congregations for over four decades. His pastoral journey includes serving St. James Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas, and New Zion Baptist Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Since May 2006, he has served as the Senior Pastor ofMount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, where his dynamic preaching and visionary leadership have strengthened the church's spiritual and community impact. Dr. Green is married to Jacqueline Marie Bowser, and together they are the proud parents of two sons, Jeremiah and Joshua. Beyond the pulpit, he is the Proprietor of Agape Children's Academy of New Jersey, demonstrating his commitment to education and youth development.
