Inhaltsangabe

Fourteen months after the crew of the Erasmus pushed back the phenomena of the Long Dark, their greatest adversary Idris Draven responds to an offer made by the crew. Having spent more than a year processing the reality of their discovery, Draven abandons his obsessive pursuit of Captain Cade Merrick. He arrives at the planet CP7-Beta not to surrender, but to offer his relentless focus and tactical mind to the "Resonance mission"charting the boundaries of the spatial anomalies to save other civilisations.

The narrative spans forty light-years, linking the ancient hyper-advanced settlement of CP7-Beta to a quiet terrestrial homestead. Using advanced Aehari technology, the team builds an instantaneous transit network placing one quite in the Archive at CP7-Beta and the other at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Though the massive Long Dark entity has withdrawn its focus, the crew faces the cleanup of its aftermath. Within the newly mapped boundaries of the Resonance, thirty-two civilisations sit in various states of degradation. Cade and his crew must deploy non-lethal solutions to help these waking societies. Meanwhile the crew battles the sheer weight of their own histories, learning to pivot from lives defined by running and fighting toward building a functional, peaceful future.
