Mama Cat is a picture storybook made up of three-letter and four-letter words, in all capital letters, to help your child read their first words.

How to read this book to a child:

The last word in each sentence matches the picture on the page. On the second read, sound out the word using phonics, point at the picture, then pause and let your child say the word. When the Spelling Monster appears, challenge them with the tracing exercise.

After a few weeks of reading together, your child will be able to read at least two words on their own: "Mama" and "Cat." And one day, not far off, this will be the very first book they read cover to cover all by themselves!
